Participants built small and playful circuits using everyday materials (modeling clay, aluminium foil, etc.) and Makey Makey boards. The circuits were then used to control a Processing software patch,manipulating color, sound, and shapes. The workshop took place at Studio XX, Montreal, Canada in 2018.

The Makey Makey for kids workshop is specially constructed to introduce electronics and sound arts to kids between 6 and 12 years old. While using the Makey Makey circuits, the kids will be able to explore the complex electronic universe while having fun creating small sound instruments with every-day materials (Play Doh, fruits, pencils, etc.). The circuits are very versatile, easy to use and secure. The possibilities of exploration are immense and the results depend solely of the kid's imagination.

 

The workshop was launched by two virtual (Skype) meetings with the kids. The first meeting was set up to introduce digital and sound art to the groups. The second meeting tackled the artist's works, as well as the plan for the upcoming workshop. The second workshop took place at Jules Vernes School, Montreal, Canada, in 2016

Les participant-e-s ont construit de petits circuits ludiques avec des matériaux de tous les jours (pâte à modeler, papier aluminium, etc.) et des plateformes Makey Makey. Les circuits ont été ensuite utilisés pour contrôler un bout de code du logiciel Processing pour produire des visualisations colorées.

L’atelier Makey Makey pour enfants est spécialement conçu pour introduire à la fois l’électronique et l’art sonore aux enfants entre 6 et 12 ans. En utilisant le circuit préfabriqué Makey Makey, les enfants pourront explorer l’univers complexe de l’électronique tout en s’amusant à créer des petits instruments sonores avec des matériaux quotidiens (la pâte à modeler Play Doh, les fruits, les crayons mine, etc.). Les circuits sont très versatiles, faciles à utiliser et sécuritaires. Les possibilités d’exploration sont immenses et les résultats ne dépendent que de l'imagination de l'enfant.

 

L'atelier a été lancé par deux rencontres virtuelles (Skype) avec les enfants. La première rencontre a visé l'introduction de l'art numérique et sonore aux groupes. Lors de la deuxième rencontre, l'artiste a présenté son propre travail, tout en abordant l'atelier à venir.
